This month’s 2 page layout kit was all about celebrating about warm memories <<<to stave off the cold weather>>>. Erminia certainly captured this in her gorgeous two-page layout. We couldn’t help but choose it as our feature layout for the month!

I won’t go into too much detail since there are instructions already in the kit, but I am excited to show you some of the cute little details Erminia has included in these pages!

I love the simplicity of this page. Erminia is always so good at creating something that is mixed media and still looks clean and neat at the same time. It is a difficult balance to strike, but is as always done so well!
One of my favorite details on this layout is how Erminia has created dimension by popping up just the very ends of the leaves! She has also cut out a shadow of vellum around her ‘you’ lettering which helps the lettering not get lost in the paint-splatter background behind it. She did this using the Sentiment Suite: You die from Pink Fresh.

The layering in the background on the top half of the page is so cute. The white-based patterns lighten up the layout and anchor the photo to the rest of the background. I love how she added in the green burlap ribbon as one of her layers- it adds texture and dimension to the page that is hard to get with just paper layering.
As predominantly a card-maker, I often forget that you can just as easily use your stamps on a layout as on a card. Especially with stamps that are on a larger scale, you can add great effects by stamping directly onto the background of a layout or stamping and die-cutting your own ephemera bits. The way that Erminia has stamped her flower coming off the edge of the page here looks almost like it was part of the patterned paper to begin with!
This layout kit and the instructions to create these two gorgeous pages are now available in-store! We also have displayed the wonderful creations that the other designers came up with so that you can take a peek at them. They will also be posted here on the blog as the month goes on along with explanations of the techniques and tricks the designers have used, so make sure to check back in with us each week.
Until the next post, I hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm!
Happy crafting! ❤
