I am a huge fan of geometric designs, and so I think Patti’s layout spread is my personal favorite of the month. I love how she designed her backgrounds using different sized triangles in different patterned papers.
I also really like that Patti mirrored the background triangle patterns rather than doing the same on both pages, because it pulls the pages together more. As you can see above, it gives the effect of all the small triangles making a big triangle spanning the two pages.
Here is a closer look at each page:
The little clips and sequins are so cute! Notice how Patti has also let her ephemera and accents interact by layering the butterfly over the ribbon and photo, having the dew drops on both the butterfly and the background, etc.
The bright pop of red on the butterflies also really stands out against the monochromatic background (I love how it also matches the bright red of the flower in the photos!).
To create the bright shiny colours on these butterflies, Patti used Lindy’s Starburst Sprays. These are water-based sprays (which is why the colours blend so smoothly) and most of them have a bit of shimmer added into them.
It is a bit difficult to see in the full page images, but in the photo above you can see that Patti actually added an extra detail to keep the white cardstock triangles from looking to plain. Dry embossing is a quick and easy technique that really makes a difference in the finished project!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, creative day!
