This month’s feature layout (the one you get instructions for in the monthly kit) is this gorgeous pet feature double layout designed by Erminia.
I can’t give away too many secrets because the instructions are in the kit, but I’ll give you some nice close ups!
I love that Erminia always incorporates a bit of mixed media into her layouts, whether it is paint, ink or even sewing. In this layout, she has used some water-based paints, sewing and paper ripping to add her own artistic flavour to the page.
Not a fan of sewing? Don’t worry. If you look close at the picture above you can see that the string is actually just drawn on to the paper with gel pen! As long as no one looks too close, it gives the same effect -and is much quicker than- directly sewing on the page.
Die-cuts add dimension and interest to a page on their own, but if you add some paint or other ephemera to them like Erminia has done here with the sequins, at really makes the die-cut accent pop. I really like how Erminia has kept the two wing layers distinct but also coordinated by applying a lot of the silver paint to the bottom layer and just a couple splatters to the top layer. The bits of white left on the bottom layer also help the wings stand out from the grey background. (Pro tip: It is usually about 10 times easier to paint a die-cut if you do the painting on your paper before you die-cut it!)
That’s all for today! If you would like a closer peek at these beautiful pages or the full kit and instructions, be sure to pop by the store before the end of the month.
Happy Crafting ❤
