The January days are getting colder and colder- all the more reason to stay inside and scrapbook! Today the blog features Erminia’s January page kit double layout:
I love how this layout reminds me of opening up a travel book and seeing all the memories come off the pages! It gives a mental 3D image without being too bulky to put in an album. It is also great because it is very versatile- You could use this as a cute travel spread like Erminia did or as a layout to preserve a special memory!
Erminia has used a bunch of cute little ideas and techniques on her layout. I love how she has used patterned paper to cover the tag- since the background is solid cardstock, it can look to plain to leave the tag as it is. Edging the tag with brown ink also gives it a bit more depth and dimension! For people who like to journal, you can make the tag like this and then use the back for your journaling! The gold splatter is also really cool. It breaks up the blue so that the other accent pieces (like the flowers and hexagons) don’t look like they are just floating. Erminia also added this gold splatter to the second page so that even though the base cardstock is a different colour, they look like they go together.
The distressed frames around the pictures and the quote block match the style of the layout perfectly, especially since Erminia has also distressed the edges of the base patterned paper. It actually makes the framed pictures pop, because unlike the patterned base she didn’t ink the white ripped edges. Like with the white frame on the photo in the other page, the contrast pulls the eye to the photos!
