I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and looking forward to the new year! Here is our last monthly kit layout for the month. In her layout this month, Laurie decided to use the large Christmas tree from the patterned paper as her focal piece.
How cool is the technique Laurie has used on her photo!? She actually fussy cut the Christmas tree from the patterned paper and then fussy cut the photo around the bed of the truck so that she could slip the tree into the photo!
Laurie created this cute “Wish List” tag by covering the tag included in the kit using the patterned paper and decoupage paper. She fist applied the decoupage paper over the whole tag adhering it with a paste. She then cut out the Wish List strip from the patterned paper and used it to make the band. She gave the tag a slightly more distressed look by applying Tim Holtz Espresso Distress Ink around the edges. I also love how she strung the bells from the top with the metal twine!
Laurie also used the Espresso Distress Ink to colour the edges of the circles, patterned paper strips, and note paper piece. This hides the white edge that you get when you cut the paper and helps the pieces work better together and stay in the background because there is no white line breaking the colour scheme. On the other hand, since the edges of the fussy-cut tree are left white, it stands out a bit more against the cardstock.
Here is a draft of the layout for you!
See you again in the new year!
