December Page Kit ~ Erminia

Happy holidays! Is everyone in the holiday spirit already? We certainly are at the store with all the lovely layouts and other projects the design team ladies have come up with. Today’s featured December page kit layout was made by Erminia:

Erminia used the horizontal and vertical strips to direct focus to the bottom right-hand corner and her adorable photo.

The little balls and ribbons Erminia added of the photo are so cute! Adding the ribbon like this and placing one of the fussy-cut tree branches over the photo pull it back and incorporate it into the rest of the layout. She also used Tim Holtz Bundled Sage Distress Ink to add some colour to the tag (and the edges of the white cardstock), which you can see more clearly in the photos below.

Erminia used liquid glue to adhere the decoupage paper poinsettias to the white paper- adhering it this way makes it look like it was a part of the paper from the start. Any strong liquid glue should be fine for this, but Yes! glue is a good option because it won’t warp the cardstock even if you cover the whole piece of decoupage with the glue. A clear gesso would also work.

I love the gold flecks! Since the bottom right-hand corner is quite busy, leaving the upper right-hand corner comparatively plain gives a good balance. However, leaving the paper white would have made it too plain, so the gold splatters (made with Tim Holtz Tarnished Brass Spray Stain) add just the right amount of colour.

How cute are these little stockings!? They look almost like they are part of the paper, but Erminia fussy cut each one out and layered them over red thread. It is hard to see in the photo, but she actually pocked holes in the paper to thread the string through so that she could adhere the ends on the backside. This is a good way to avoid messy glue lines and frayed string ends!
