This month we are excited to welcome Sherri to both the design team and our in-store team! Here is her layout for the month:
I really like how Sherri distressed the edges of just the first photo mat and the background piece. It adds an element of vintage and pulls the top and bottom layers together It also gives the layout more dimension without making it too thick or heavy, so this is a great technique for people who keep their layouts in albums!
The little triangle corners she has used are super cute too! Sticking them under the photo mat like this helps frame the photo without making the frame too dark or heavy. I also really like her placement of the paper clip and curled over piece of paper, because it really makes it look like the photo and mat have been just clipped onto the layout, like you might see in an old journal.
Tucking the flower die cut between the mat layers also gives a cool effect. I always choose either over or under, so I want to give this a try next time.
Tags make great spots to add you layout title. You can also make them so they can slide in and out from under the layout if you want to add some extra journaling or photos (I don’t personally often do this on layouts, but it is super handy for mini books and albums)!
I like how she has let the burlap overlap the blue background frame. It’s interesting how different the layout can look depending on whether you make a solid, thick frame or if you let other bits of the layout hang over onto it.
Here is the layout draft!
Have you tried out any of our layout designs? If you have, post a photo and tag us- it’s always so much fun to see how everyone uses inspiration a bit differently 🙂
See you in December!
