Have you had a chance to try the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Embossing Powders by Seth Apter? If not, these are a need (not a want, a need) for any crafter who loves to add a rustic, antique or textured look to their creations.
I used these embossing powders on chipboard gears when I did my layout, “Imagination”.
The reason I think these embossing powders are so cool (other than their great texture and colours) is that you can mix and layer the different powders to get some really cool effects. To do this, you just melt the first layer of powder onto your paper as you normally would, and then just sprinkle a bit of another powder onto the melted section with your fingers. The second powder will start to melt into the first and you can heat it again to make sure they stay. I used Rocky Road over Deep Sea for the big gear below, and Ancient Amber with Patina Oxide for the small gear:
The colours all work really great together and are a lot of fun to work with.
I did notice that with some of the chunkier powders, like Rocky road, you need to either have a base emboss already done (like I talked about above) or a much stickier embossing medium than I have at home. The Vintage Beeswax powder works really great for a base emboss if you don’t want to effect the final colour too much.
Feel free to come see the layout in person and ask us about these awesome embossing powders. Happy Crafting 🙂
