Welcome back to the Urban blog and our last designer layout for the month of July (I can’t believe August is already almost here)! Today we will take a peek at what Patti created with the July Monthly Design Kit.
I absolutely love all the borders Patti incorporated into her layout. They add embellishment while also dragging your attention to her cute vintage photos. One of the cool effects of using these borders is that, even though the main pattern block isn’t in the middle of the page, the borders make it the center of attention!
Borders are an awesome way to reduce chaos in your layout because they direct the eye. Patti achieved this using even mattes (her photos and photo base are matted all the way around), skewed matting (no blue border on the right side), and with her copper ribbon and press-ons.
If you look closely you can see that Patti also added some dimension by embossing her acetate. She also used the acetate as a base to adhere her sequins into a cute little (sparkly!) heart.
There are lots of little things you can do to add dimension and interest to your layouts, and I hope we have been able to give you some inspiration with our designer layouts over the past month. Stay tuned later this week for the release of our August kit and more inspiration!
