Hooray for easy breezy! That’s how I like things to be.
Sometimes it’s how we like our layouts to be too. Like our annual Urban Girl Calendar Kit. Since the layouts are displayed in a 12 month, coiled calendar, there can’t be any of the gorgeous textural layers we love to include.
It’s so much fun to use all the goodies, but it does take up more room. It can be a challenge to keep it lean and flat, yet still layered and interesting. This doesn’t mean you have to put away your dies, pens, glitter, paint or sewing machine. Here’s some idea’s for ‘Flat Scrapping’ with style for interesting pages:
1. Use your rubber stamps with super colourful inks.
2. Use your dies on top of rubber stamps to suggest depth
3. Use simple shapes to add extra details
4. Make one big focal point on your page
5. Fussy cut elements right out of the paper design
Also, use your glue or tape sparingly. Like the leaves in the floral hair-do, rims of the glasses and pearls in the necklace. Let the flat elements lift off the page in places to incorporate shadows. Because shadows will suggest depth. Pop back next week for a few more ‘Flat Scrapping’ techniques.
‘Flat Scrapping’ can be incorporated into your albums when you have lots of photo’s to include. Say, for a heritage album, wedding album, calendar or baby book.
Speaking of Calendars, you’ll want to mark yours for:
