Good morning everyone!  Hope your weekend is off to a good start.  It’s hard to believe that January is almost over, usually this month seems to drag on forever.  Normally we are experiencing cold temperatures here with snow, snow, and more snow, but this year we are having spring like weather.  We all know it’s not going to last though, we still have a few months to go before we get to enjoy our spring.  We have just a few January layouts left here to showcase and today is Kelly’s turn:

For those of you familiar with Kelly’s style of scrapbooking, you know her work is definitely not your simple basic scrapbooking.  It’s full of so many wonderful ideas and details, you can’t stop looking at it!   Her border around her layout is just Sook-Wang tape (very sticky double-sided tape that comes in different widths) adhered to her paper, then glitter added.  A Microfine glitter (Glamour Glitter or Glitter Ritz) works best. She has die cut her burlap into snowflake shapes, then added texture paste with a stencil on top to create a pattern.  A die-cut doily was cut into quarters and one piece was added in opposite corners.  There’s also glitter, stickles, snowflake paste, paint splotches applied with a splatter brush, thread… have we missed anything?  The Tim Holtz Mixed Media die was used in the corners, Memory Box Snowflake dies, Tim Holtz Snowflake Rosette Die and Tiny Tattered Floral die also was used.  Maybe Kelly can fill us in what doily die she used.
You may not want to use everything on one layout, but just taking one or two ideas from layouts you like and incorporating them into your own style of scrapbooking, can help you get out of the creative block that we all experience at some time.
Hey Kelly, aren’t those the same three little birds that joined you in Hawaii?

Have a great weekend!

The Urban Scrapbook

  1. You might think it looks tricky but honestly, it's more the fact that I have a room full of accoutrement that I can use to pull it all together. We're allowed to use any paint, paste, glitter or embossing product in addition to what's in the kit. Basically, anything on our art wall and wait till you see the art wall….good golly ms molly….that's what really makes it xoxo

  2. Hello hello, I actually got a piece of Self Adhesive Burlap in the kit. It's Burlap adhered to a plastic backing. It's not easily cut with a Bigshot and intricate dies like my Doily Die. But it did cut out the outside edge pretty well. Then I spread white texture paste thru a paper doily cut with the same die. That made it look like a burlap doily. Does that make sense? The girls with a Cameo like yours cut the Burlap though. I'm pretty sure you could cut regular Burlap too, although it may unravel quite a bit. The plastic backing on the one we sell at Urban allows it to hold a shape once die cut. YOU'RE lovely Alys……and loved. wok

  3. tee-hee, these three little birdies only wish they lived in Maui. They would much rather have warm sunshine on their tummies than snowflakes on their head. Thanks for the super recap of my layout Jan. x k
