KELLY’S KORNER – It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Are you as happy to see the snow as you once were as a kid? Or are you like me, where thoughts of skating outside, sledding down steep hills and Santa being on his way have long since been replaced by line ups for snow tires, shovelling walks and scraping the car windows.  Well now, winter’s not all doom and gloom, au contraire, not since I’ve become an Urban Girl.  We just can’t help feeling festive these days.

There’s just so many fun Christmas projects to whip up and so little time to do it.  Hey?! Wish you had time for those extra special projects? Why not come see our collection of gorgeous Christmas Card Kits designed by Urban Girls, Lynette and Krista. Just in time to help you busy Christmas Elves.

Not a fan of winter?  Join the club.  Luckily it’s always plenty warm in the craft room.

Speaking of crafting, please meet Frosty!
You might have spotted similar ones around Pinterest. Since we got these cute little hats in, Jan suggested we fashion one of our very own. Frosty is actually a battery operated tea light. The snowflake is Spellbinders Shapeabilities Die Set, Moroccan Motifs.
Frosty’s jaunty bow was made with a Memory Box Die, Stitched Bows. I added some bling with a tiny sequin.  Check out the sequin bucket at Urban for all our irresistible colours. Oh my, I did buy a few. Snicker…..
Before the tea light was glued on, a circle die was used in the centre of the snowflakes.  This exposed the on/off switch on the back of the it.  I wanted to be able to hang it on the tree, so glued a 7 inch piece of silver twine between the two paper layers.  To keep it balanced, I made a paper bead, and strung it on the twine.

Naturally, I wanted Frosty to glisten in the tree so I coated the bead in Glossy Accents and sprinkled it with micro glitter.  The eyes and mouth are black rhinestones.  Isn’t Frosty’s wee chapeau cute?  You can find them at Urban in our charm drawers.

What else has been blowing in the door at Urban? A December calendar full of inspiring classes to help you get ready for the holidays or make a gift for that special friend. We’re crafting our little hearts out to fill the store with inspiration. When you have a spare moment, come on by and say hello!

Remember, what happens under the mistletoe, stays under the mistletoe! See you soon.

Cheers to you,
Kelly
